Warwickshire law firm makes a quantum leap into a digital future

When Leamington Spa-based solicitors Blythe Liggins discovered its analogue dictation and transcription system was becoming outdated, the only option was to look at upgrading to digital. In a modern age where phones and tablets are as sophisticated as computers, using tapes to record dictation for transcription had begun to seem slightly archaic.

Warwickshire law firm makes a quantum leap into a digital future - Customer Stories

Switch from Analogue to Digital

Established over a century ago, Blythe Liggins prides itself on its efficiency and an ability to deliver the best service to its clients, whatever their size and needs. It employs 50 staff at its office in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, but serves clients across the county and the country. Staff handle all aspects of law, in disciplines ranging from private to business matters. Staff recognised that the audio tapes were deteriorating and the system was becoming increasingly time-consuming, with tapes having to be listened to in their entirety and then transcribed into text.

Digital Dictation Upgrade and Voice Recognition

Digital dictation solution specialists SpeechWrite Digital were recommended to Blythe Liggins. SpeechWrite looked at the company’s needs and scope, and deployed a combination of SpeechWrite Pro and SpeechWrite Voice software as the ideal remedy for the busy practice. The new system software and tech has significantly improved workflow, and also seamlessly integrated with the office’s existing IT set up, to connect authors and transcriptionists. As part of the new system, secretaries receive work that is prioritised using red, blue and black colour coding, and in some cases numbers, to rank them by urgency. SpeechWrite’s bespoke solution includes a tailor-made package that offers support, both throughout the implementation process and for ongoing after-sales back-up.

Jill Starkey, Practice Manager at Blythe Liggins, has been very impressed with the upgrade:

“Digital transcription has offered convenience and cost-efficiencies way beyond our expectations. It really has been a quantum leap forward for us – from tapes and typing, to voice recognition and digital transcription. SpeechWrite Voice has proved to be particularly beneficial, as internal memos are no longer typed, which has freed up the secretaries for more client work. The technology is intuitive and has quickly become second nature for everyone, which has also been a huge bonus”.
