Following a consultation with SpeechWrite Digital, Sherwood House Medical Centre in Edgbaston recently upgraded its digital dictation system. Already an established user of a Philips digital dictation solution, the practice has adopted SpeechWrite Pro, which prioritises clerical tasks, and added SpeechWrite Voice, a leading voice recognition engine, which allows doctors to dictate medical notes quickly.
There are eight doctors at Sherwood House, supplemented by two nurses and a team of clerical and administrative staff. The practice team sought to enhance its digital workflow further and SpeechWrite recommended an upgrade. The latest version of SpeechWrite Pro, a digital dictation application, creates a systematic workflow solution and prioritises items needing urgent attention.
SpeechWrite Voice allows doctors to dictate medical notes quickly, so this two-tier administrative solution provides data encryption, pre-assigned formatting and search command functions. SpeechWrite Pro provides dictated files to the support team with full job profiling, including priority level and author details. It can also reassign jobs to specific members of the secretarial team, to evenly distribute work. Clerical staff can add footnotes to pending files too, which is very useful when busy staff are job-sharing.
Dr Kay, GP at Sherwood House Medical Centre immediately noticed the improvements:
“Our new ability to prioritise typing tasks has really transformed the way we work. As well as enabling us to respond more quickly to patients’ requirements, it means tasks can be shared out more evenly. The voice recognition is so easy to use everyone has really embraced the new technology, making the whole practice run more efficiently.”
